What is a mystery shopper?
A mystery shopper is a freelance researcher hired to evaluate the quality of customer service, products, and services provided by a company. Their job is to pose as a regular customer and describe their shopping and service experience objectively and in great detail.
What does a mystery shopper do?
The mystery shopper must carefully evaluate all the points listed in the training materials for each research project. In other words, they need to understand the points to be evaluated, observe what happens during their shopping/service experience, and complete the questionnaire at the end of the evaluation.
In which sectors can a mystery shopper work?
Mystery shoppers can work at any retail establishment, point of sale, or customer service channel, whether physical or digital. This includes everything from restaurants, e-commerce apps, and shopping malls to pharmacies, schools, gas stations, and many others!
What does the mystery shopper need to evaluate?
Every research project has a specific objective. Therefore, the criteria evaluated depend on the project. However, in general, mystery shoppers assess response times, the friendliness of staff, and their level of knowledge about the company’s products and services, as well as the cleanliness and organization of the premises, among other factors.
How long does the mystery shopper evaluation take?
It depends on the project. A simpler evaluation—at a pharmacy or gas station, for example—takes about 20 minutes. But there are other evaluations that can take up to a month, such as when a mystery shopper evaluates the results of a beauty product. If something unexpected comes up that prevents you from completing the evaluation, you should contact Mister O immediately.
What does the mystery shopper need to provide?
At the end of the assignment, the mystery shopper must submit the completed evaluation questionnaire with the requested information. In addition, please include anything else that might enhance the research, such as proof of the visit, sales receipts, invoices, photos, etc. You have up to 24 hours after the representative contacts you to submit the completed questionnaire.
Can I discuss the evaluation with someone I know?
The information gathered during the assessment is confidential; therefore, under no circumstances should it be shared with others. If you know anyone at the location being assessed, please do not proceed with your assessment and notify our team.
How much does a mystery shopper earn?
It also depends on the project. The number of evaluation points, the difficulty of evaluating them, and the duration of the project determine the compensation amount. The minimum rate is R$ 20 per evaluation, but it can go up to R$ 350. Check the compensation details in the job description and with the project consultant.
How long does it take for the Mystery Shopper, Mr. O., to receive payment?
Payment for evaluations is typically processed between the 19th and 22nd of the month following your survey. If you have any questions, please contact our finance department starting on the 23rd.
How do I get paid for a survey?
We currently accept payments via PIX. Please make sure to keep your information up to date!
